We have a Danfoss System - both upstairs and downstairs have a thermostat and in the airing cupboard there are two RX1 boxes with separate valves.

Downstairs appears to be working fine.

Upstairs, the light comes on the RX1 when it should be heating up, but the valve does not open/loosen to allow the hot water to the radiators. Yesterday we have a battery low sign, I replaced these and even did a re-set, straight after this the valve did open itself, but since then it is really sporadic, it will occasionally open, but not all of the time. Also, it seems to not get up to temperature, it is set to get to 20 degrees and then stay at 17, the thermostat is showing 16.8 and it isn't turning back on, let alone getting to 20 in the first place. If I manually turn the heating on for an hour and turn the temperature up the flame symbol on the box comes on, the red light on RX1 comes on, but the valve stays shut and the radiators cold...

Seems odd that the valve does occasionally open, but not all of the time and not to the right temperature...

Any ideas....?

Thanks!

Ben

well the indication is that its failing...but you know that though.
Its an electromechanical part so it was always destined to fail.
So are you going to leave it until it does not function at all or are you going to replace it now?
That is the only choice you have to make as replace it you must...at some point
