Hi all,
I am trying to change a light fitting I have.
Struggling to figure out how to remove the old one.
There are no set screws on the base.
There is a screw mechanism around her cable but it does not release the fitting base when undone.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Underneath the cup thing that is on the ceiling is a separate item that has a brass loop on it. The light chan hangs from it.
You need to unscrew that brass collar. Careful not to drop the whole fitting on the floor!IMG_0021.jpeg

The shroud is probably stuck to the ceiling with paint. Carefully lever it off after unscrewing the collar as TTC says.

Great thank you, got it off. It was the paint that had it stuck as suggested

Ok so I’ve managed to change the fitting. I took the metal attachments off which left an inner thread which I then fit on the nuts in the existing bracket. left with a slight gap in plaster. How do I fix that

Some options

Or strip the existing bracket back to this

Create a hair pin with stout wire, such as galvanised steel fencing/ piece of chainlink fence etc. Poke it up through the hole and bend the ends out each side
