Hi

I've been told by an Audi delaer that the brake discs on my TT need to be changed because they are nearing the wear limit (its done 77,000 miles). They have quoted £650 to do all 4 wheels but I could get the parts for about £150. Does anyone have any experience of doing the job themselves and do you need any special tools.

cheers

Try piston heads for audi specific forums but I suspect the discs front and rear should be realy easy to change.

also remember that you need to change all the pads as well as otherwise you'll knacker the nwe discs in a very short time.

this might be worth £4 to see how they go on+ off.

If you do diy it make sure to support the loose brake calipers so you dint damage the hozes and clean up+ coppaslip all the pins+ bolts so it all comes to bits nice and easy next time.

the few VAG group cars I have worked on (1999 passat 1997 golf) were all easy peasy to do the discs on but if your tt has 4wd you may need some special tool.

hope that helps

thanks for the reply. It is the quattro version so it may be a bit harder.

No Quattro will be no different
Disks should be no problem at all
But a brake caliper cylinder rewind tool will be required, However I have done VAG with a 'g' clamp and a set of grips

thanks for the reassurance.

I have been told that you can get a wind back tool for about £20 so i may invest in one. I'm sure it will come in handy as I have not only to look after my wife's TT but also the cars that both of my daughters have.
