Hi

I have knocked down the wall between my previously separate loo and bathroom and now have two pull cord lights in there and need to remove the one by the now boarded up 2nd door.

I want to install 3 fire-rated downlights (it's still a fairly small space) spaced out across the room (but not over the bath of course!)
Can I just remove the switch cable, insert a choc box in place of that ceiling rose and daisy-chain the 3 lights from there, or is it more complicated than that?

Is there a wiring diagram anyone knows of that covers this set-up?

I know you're supposed to get qualified sparks to do work in bathrooms but money is very tight at the mo, so much so that I'm doing a few improvements with a view to having to sell.

Any constructive thoughts would be appreciated

:D

Remove the switch cable.
If you have a loft above, replace the ceiling rose with a proper junction box (or use the old rose if money is tight). This maintains the lighting circuit to ensure other rooms continue to work.

The new lights need to be connected to the other ceiling rose wires (the one that still functions).
So fit a proper junction box above and take a feed from there to the 3 new lights. Get a 4 terminal junction box, 20A one will have good room in it.

I guess 3 spot lamps will help sell the house.

Have a look at the pinned wiki at the top on how light circuits work so you don't land yourself with problems!
Very common on here. So prepair first! and make sure you know which cable goes to the switch!
