I need to chase in my new wiring before the plasterer comes to re-skim the walls.

Is a sand/cement/lime mix OK to use?

Is that what the ready made bags of "browning" are?

If OK should I use sharp sand or builders sand?

Browning is a very loose open textured plaster. Its that soft you can carve patterns in it when dry with your finger but it is excellent for filling large/deep gaps before your finishing plaster which grips really well into the brownings open texture
