Checking I've wired a ceiling light correctly (especially earthed)

Hiya guys, hopefully a quick one for you to put my mind at ease. I've recently changed a pendant light to a "normal"? Ceiling light in the hall. As expected there were multiple wires coming into the pendant light. I read in some places that you could leave the plate of the pendant in place and connect the new light fitting to it, which is what I went with.

My only slight worry is the way the earthed wires have been connected. I tried to connect all of them to the earth mounting point on the pendant but couldn't get them all to fit in the one hole. So I have taken the two that were coming out of the ceiling (existing wiring) and the 2 coming from the new ceiling light and fitted them inside a connector strip / terminal block.

So I guess my questions are:
1. Are the earth wires safe in this way? I guess I could go back and fasten the two earth wires coming from the ceiling back into the ceiling pendant and have the two earthed wires from the light going into a terminal.
2. Is using a pendant in this way safe as a whole? I don't fully know the technical details about these as to whether or not they allow a certain amount of amps through them etc.
3. Is the metal bracket safe mounted behind the pendant light fitting? Just thinking if there was anyway it could short something I guess. Probably just me being over precautions.

I appreciate leaving the pendant base plate in place may seem like a cheap job but it saved money on wagos.

Picture 1 was the initial cabling coming from the light fitting. I disconnected the live and neutral and connected these two the spare points on the pendant plate.
Pictures 2-4 try to show how things are wired up now, with all the earth's being placed into a terminal block.
Picture 5 is a terrible diagram of what I have done. The black hole at the bottom of the image is where there is a piece of metal grounding the earth.all of the cables at the top of the image are therefore coming out of the ceiling.

Please put my mind at ease!

Take that tape off the earth connection, then show a pic of what's there please.

Other than that I see no issues.

Brill thank you. Apologies, can't grab a pic of it right now but potentially can in the morning. Another quick bad drawing from me. Left coming from ceiling, right coming from light, in a 15amp connection block. As far as I'm aware all wires are earthed and fixed properly in the strip.

Why didn’t you use the cpc connection on the pendant base? Much neater

Unfortunately couldn't get them to fit. Genuinely did try, the earth's coming from the ceiling were a lot thicker. And trying to get thin versions to fit in the same hole, while reaching up above my head and support the weight of the lamp. Wasn't going to happen. Downsides of doing a DIY job on your own. It works all the same though I assume?

It may have, but I'm my situation it was unfortunately easier for me to use the connection strip.

These little bits - hooks? - are for looping the lamp conductors around which would support the weight while you connect them-

and until the rose is fitted.

There is supposed to be a clip on the lamp flex which is held up by the rose - various designs or even a cable tie.

Didn't even think about the hooks to be honest but that does make perfect sense. Thank you for pointing that out. So is the only change you guys would make is potentially connecting the earth's to the CDC on the base plate? Otherwise everything is good?

Risking to state the obvious...you can feed the CPCs from both sides into the base. So a looped_cpc+lamp_cpc into one side and the other looped_cpc enters the base from the other side. Sometimes it's a little easier to maneuver & fit.

Eventually had another go at this and managed to do exactly as you've suggested. Took me some time just because of the height of the light etc made it difficult but eventually got there. So now all the wires are going straight into the base. With the CPC's going straight into the CPC connector on the base, should that be everything covered and we are good to go?
