Over the last year there has been loads of topics and observations regards saville, hall , coronation street characters etc etc.
But in the last week it has been announced that pope john paul is to made a saint.
He over saw billions of pounds in compensation paid made threats to bishops etc not to speak about abuse was in a position of power for 25 or so years and did nothing visual to stop it
He was the CEO of the catholic church and as such should be held responible why being made a saint its prison him and his underlings should have been getting why do people shy off having a go at the head of their church

It is true that it happened on his watch. However, it's whether he knew anything about it or not that surely determines his culpability - his successor Ratzinger was clearly in the know and he made conscious and documented decisions to cover up the shenanegans which is why IMHO this ex member of the Hitler youth (or a related Nazi club at the time) should never have been elevated to the post of pope. Indeed his decision to abdicate for his own convenience and now living the life of decadence in some RC diocese rather than fulfilling the historical requirements of papal death suggest what sort of bloke Ratzinger is.

Not really. "The buck stops here" springs to mind.
