I have bought a new house with a chimney breast in one room. It's closed off and k chiselled the plaster off to establish there's a lintil. We want a gas or maybe electric fire for it. Do we need to open the chimney for this and deal with anything???

If you fit a gas fire, you'll need the chimney working. If you use an electric fire, you won't need the chimney 'open'
