Hoping someone can help me here.

Have removed chimney for usual thing to stick TV etc in there, but got a couple of queries on the wiring

the consumer unit is right next to it and any nearby sockets are plastered in so no access to run a spur.

Can i add a 20AMP MCB to unit and run the 3 core 2.5mm to the socket in the chimney. Then from the socket run 3 core 1mm to a switch controlling 2 recessed lights (240V lights)

Or do i need to run 2 distinct separate circuits?

Option 1

Option 2

2nd question applicable to either option are these ok as straight spurs from CU dont have to loop them back or anything?

note that your first option would be fine if you used a FCU with a 3A fuse instead of the lightswitch and 2.5mm in place of the 1.5mm run from socket-switch.

if its 2.5mm on a 20A breaker there is no need to make it a ring.

note that being new cuircuits you are supposed to notify building control.

note also that you can take a spur off a ring at the CU and being part of an existing cuircuit this would not be notifiable (crazy isn't it).

Cheers i hadn't thought of that.

Have bought a 5 & 20A MCB's now so will stick those in and run as option 2.

Its been a while since i did any wiring just needed to here someone else tell me it looked OK

:D
