Surely i can install a switch which turns the damn light on?

i think im just going to get a light without PIR, that would make it very much simpler.

I may be totally confused here but can't i have the perm on and off function from the switched FCU?

Yes, but you also want it to leave on the PIR.
You cannot have three choices with an on or off switch.

All you need is Permanent OFF, PIR ON.

Then you can do whatever you want by manipulating the switch.

so buy the manual override light and wire up perm off (iso) and PIR live, then flick the switch on/off to perm on?

sounds best if i take this approach as im a certified numpty with this kind of stuff

Is the L1 in the below for the switched live? Or, rather, if I connect my switche live here will it give manual override?

L1 is for the connection of a second light to be controlled by this PIR.
