I have a chimney which is leaking water causing a damp patch in a bedroom.
A roofer has suggested some flashing needs repairing, but the brickwork has a lot of pointing missing.
He has offered to fix the flashing but doesn't do pointing.
Is that the norm of all roofers? I'm happy to mix it, just need someone comfortable of heights to apply it. :(

If we choose to remove the chimney stack completely, is that a job for a roofer or builder?

Get a builder who will then hire a roofer.

Just make sure they make good and don't tell you it's not their job!

Chimney has now been removed and whilst I was in the loft I noticed that the roof is of natural slate pinned to wooden battens. There is no felt lining. Is there anything I should be wary of regarding the lack of felt?
The loft floor is well insulated.
Cheers all
