Biden told her not to go and so has the pentagon . She must be after some more insider trading chip deals in Taiwan

It's all part of the narrative.

Taiwan has a timeline & it's not time yet.

Can you imagine a scenario where the CCP falls on it's knee's & collectively thanks their godless gods for such a high profile PR exercise.

It will kick off with in the next 10
Years when China take or attempt to take Taiwan by force

The invasion of Ukraine will be studied heavily with a view to how the calculation for invading Taiwan would go. Both in military terms and how the West is likely to manage sanctions.

The refusal of China to condemn the Russian invasion is probably a large factor in the US's increased visibility of support.

Good indication that it's all just geopolitics and that comment bull stuff. No senior person has visited for years so lets have a sort of visit.
She must be after some more insider trading chip deals in Taiwan
Biden has concerns about chip manufacture in Taiwan and US use of their products. A deal was made for on of the large producers to build a plant in the US. News suggested it was agreed - more recently that it's proving far more expensive than originally thought.

People might have heard talk about the colour of Taiwan on maps. What's that about. Same colour indicates that Taiwan is part of China that is self governed.

Just add to the confusion read this from where it starts

It's pretty clear that the 2 countries have formed a working relationship. One view concerning Taiwan is happy as things are - they are self governed. A view in regions where China's influence is growing is we don't want to choose sides Came out of a Blinken summit reported on AlJ scarcely mentioned on other channels other than Oz had been neglecting their sphere of influence etc.

What's going on - China's influence is growing. Why - wealth. USA go to war with China or the other way round. They'd obliterate each other. A Ukrained Taiwan would leave a number of holes in western supplies.

"The world is one misstep from devastating nuclear war and in peril not seen since the Cold War, the UN Secretary General has warned.
"We have been extraordinarily lucky so far," Antonio Guterres said.
Amid rising global tensions, "humanity is just one misunderstanding, one miscalculation away from nuclear annihilation", he added."

It's probably a series of miscalculations...

One being the weakening of the EU that gave Putin a perception that the Ukraine would be a doddle...

Well it hasn't been militarily, but it sure has put the world's economy into freefall...

Now we have this visit by Pelosi which can only taken by China as a provocation...

Right or wrong why the risk, and what does her less than 24 hour visit achieve?

China is now going to effectively put on show how a blockade of Taiwan would look...

All it would take is an itchy trigger finger to turn that show of force into all out conflict!

China Trade Surplus Hits Fresh High
China's trade surplus surged to a record high of USD 97.94 billion in June 2022 from USD 50.14 billion in the same month a year earlier, easily beating market forecasts of a surplus of USD 75.7 billion as export surged and imports remained subdued. Exports grew 17.9% yoy, the most in five months, as
.

The goods gap in the US narrowed to $98.2 billion in June of 2022 form a downwardly revised $104 billion in May. It was the lowest trade deficit of the year so far, as exports jumped by 2.5% to a record high of $181.5 billion.

The usa is probably having a bit of a depression in public spending. Good time to sell weapons may have improved exports.

Anyway the visit is a resounding success as far as the USA is concerned.

Would you care to wander around your house and tell us what you have bought/own that doesn't have 'made in china' on it?

P*** and wind
Sounds like a brief embargo and an export ban of some selected items. Mybe the embargo might just be an illustration that they could if they wanted.

For what purpose. Simple really the rather strange one china set up has been mostly working so lets go and upset it.
