China threatening

Not exactly what I meant...

How has it gone for the rest of the world?

Not to well by all accounts

The Germans are in a bit of an awkward place

Potential starvation in Africa

Over a million refugees

And than there is the not talked about issue as to what is likely ? Or could happen if the Ukraine retake territory

Reprisals against those they consider to be collaborators ???

Basically all a dogs breakfast

Caused by brexit of course ?

So the entire caper is the fault of the UK imo

I don’t have a link to the brexit bit
But dare say others can come up with some type of link ??

Taiwan used to or still do manufacture quite a bit of body panels / metal parts for American cars ( classics)

Must admit the chrome finish on some of these parts (all) is pretty crap tbh

Very poor quality ( flash chrome)

Sleepy Joe asked Pelosi not go to Taiwan but she couldn't resist the opportunity for a bit of coat trailing to wind up the Chinese.
Sooner Biden and Pelosi go, the safer the world will be.

:) Brexit did prevent the BofE from increasing the base rate.

Really? there is a list of countries that have diplomatic relationships with Taiwan including a number in the EU. The EU is not a separate country. It's a group of them.

All even the Nancy woman claim to support the one china idea sometimes mentioning the status quo. Under that Taiwan is part of China but is self ruled. It's a democracy.

Mind you the Chinese probably remember her antics (?) on a previous trip to China were she unfurled a banner ref the Tinnaman
Square caper ???

Is that a serious post?

Blimey China have pulled out of any climate co-operation with the USA

Oh well ***t happens

Mind you I am driving a made in China van o_O

Wonder if it’s bugged or has some type of eaves dropping device fitted o_O

They are always interested in captains of industry

China's military modernisation in recent decades mean some security analysts say it would be unthinkable for U.S. aircraft carriers to challenge Chinese forces in the seas around Taiwan in the way they did a quarter of a century ago.
Back then, one carrier sailed through the Taiwan Strait as another manouvered close by to end days of Chinese missile launches and military drills as Beijing protested Taiwan's first direct presidential election.

That and a bit more general info-

For all USA's posturing, it's unthinkable that they (or any other western nation) would become directly involved in an violent dispute between China and Taiwan.
The result of any such Chinese 'invasion' of Taiwan is totally predictable. For sure it would be a bloody mess, but there would be only one victor, speaking purely in military terms.
But there could be serious losers if any sanctions (Russian style) were to be applied to China. A simple response from China of limiting the export of electronic circuit components would result in the loss of 50% of the world's supply of such components.
Looking at semi-conductor exports, I believe Taiwan provides about 60% of the world's supply of chips.
So an invasion of Taiwan would leave China controlling their own, and Hong Kong's and Taiwan's electronic circuit components, and Taiwan's export of semi-conductors.
Therefore sanctions against a Chinese takeover of Taiwan would cause massive global disruption of the electronic industries.
The global trade interconnectivity brings its own unique problems.

You do realise this is 1 of the few occasions the Republicans stood up and supported the visit ?
The Republicans stood up to support Pelosi's visit because it makes the Democrats look stupid.
Sleepy Joe advised her not to go, the military advised her not to go but she still went.
That makes the Democratic administration look dysfunctional.

I just spent some time looking at "Taiwanese emigration to USA" and similar. Quite interesting. For example on Quora, Reddit and so on, you'll find a heck of a lot of what really does look like propaganda, saying how how marvellous China (not Taiwan) is so "why would you want to go", and how terrible it woud be to live in the USA. They're full of dodgy English and feeble logic.
There aren't: "I'm from China living in the US and I want to return", articles.

E.G., This Reddit article has been withdrawn for some reason.
https://www.reddit.com/r/taiwan/comments/plwbxl/how_to_emigrate_to_us/ .
From the summary of the link which pointed to it, where it's shown as starting
"How to emigrate to US? : taiwan
To live in US, I would need a employer who can file a petition to US immigration services. And US wants professionals that fit its national interest (National Interest waiver, as US calls it). But the immigration law does not specify what is considered to be a professional. (At least I have not found the definition yet.)"

It was a factual article. Why would that have been deleted?

Pelosi's visit is a powerful message in the other direction, which will inevitably cost the US somewhere. It was just her, not supported by her own party, but that's what you DO if you want to pretend to be non-agressive as a government.
It'll be interesting to see if there's any change in the Taiwan to USA migration situation.

Xi is certainly more ambitious than his predecessor(s). This article is by a former Prime Minister of Australia, who speaks Mandarin. (Long but worthwile read).

If China wants to "take back" Taiwan it will, without any war. Perhaps the West can mitigate some of the losses.

Simplistic at best.

Not looking at it from the amerucan view, just your own biased right wing view
