i have an exisiting window opening that i'm extending by 30cm to make the gap about 1.4m.

building regs on an initial inspection advised a standard 8x4 concrete lintel will be fine, the issue is weight and i'm struggling to be able to get a crane in this position to lift it up.

who would i need to get in to tell me if a box lintel would suffice, would a structural engineer do this or would they just tell me the load a lintel would need to carry?

any other considerations with a box lintel, understand i'd need to rust and fire proof it- any recommendations on how to do this?

I can tell you.

Any standard lintel for that type of wall will do
