My toilet cistern has a siphon very much like this one:

I've just had to replace the diaphragm washer which looks like this:

There is a white plastic 'clip' which holds the washer in its place, it's designed to push over the two 'studs' for the two holes in the washer so basically looks like the number '8', however mine is starting to break up. It'll do for now but I'd like to replace it - what is this 'number 8' clip called? I can't seem to find it online.

Yeah I know the part you're on about, like a retaining ring. Might be able to use a Dudley service kit, but expensive just to try. If it works for now leave it as is and just replace the Syphon next time.

Thanks chaps, yeah I had thought about replacing the whole siphon but I hate waste and it seems overkill to replace it just because of a small worn retaining ring that probably cost less than a penny to manufacture.

If I can't find a replacement ring I'll probably try and make one from some stiff plastic, maybe even wrap some wire around the studs to hold the diaphragm washer in place. In fact a couple of tight fitting O rings may do the job.

Might be worthwhile to email the manufacturer and ask them if they can send you the figure of 8 part. My guess is that will post it out for free. If they do, come back here and big them up.

Image number 2, but out of stock.

Thanks very much for finding that, that's not a bad idea. Will let you know if I have any luck.
