Hi

I am going to replace the siphon (standard 8") inside my toilet cistern - but I have one query before I begin thr work!

If I ak careful when removing and installing the new siphon and backnut, will the original doughnut washer be ok and leak free?

I have read posts about new dougnnuts, and some hard to get, but about them being torn, etc when working on a siphon.

Any tips or advice please would be great ...

depends on how long been installed and how squashed it maybe.
can't tell till removing.

ok good point. so if it is squashed, will i be able to get a replacement from a plumbing shop?

sometimes but i have had to order many straight from the supplyers.
do you know make of toilet etc ?

take it out see how bad it is.
if knackered plumbers merchant if not measure it and you can match it with one on the net etc.

ok thanks will begin now....

any gd net sites for a spare doughnut if need be though-any recommended?

i would suggest using the old jam nut if you intend to use the old donut washer as it will be shaped to suit the old nut and may seal earier than using the new nut
