Hi

My cold water tank in the attic has not had a cover on it for yrs. Brown gunge at bottom but impossible to reach due to tank top so close to roof. Is there any 'flushing' type agent I can put in to clean it?

could you not syphon it all out (not nice, but it will stop all the "gunk" getting into your heating system)

most would just hose the crud into the system. its either that or invest in a wet vac

could try adding fernox restorer chemical into the tank and see if the gunge disolves. If it does drain the system and flush through.

Cold water tank the man said - so NO you may not put any chemicals in it.
If it's brown gunge then is the tank made of Galvanised steel, or plastic? If steel, change it before it rusts through and floods your house.

CW supplies can be "cleaned" with chlorine but it's not a DIY thing.

Whoops, another customer bites the dust. Must remember to worm my way into the will first.
