I've just ripped up a really old carpet in my kitchen only to find that the person who laid it has actually glued it down to the parquet floor underneath and used double sided tape by the door.

what I'm left with is a floor that's got a thick layer of glue still on it, and pieces of the backing from the carpet still stuck in places too. Has anyong any ideas what I can use to get this off ? I've tried paint stripper and white spirit, neither if which barely touched it

Cheers
