If you're not worried about looks, consider these. You drill into the bricks with a drill that the same size as the screw shank, and then run them straight in without any wall plugs.
And you've got to check you're photos before you post them.
Have acquired torx screws etc. Going to drill into masonry now. Do I just measure excess of screw, when positioned in bracket, going through plasterboard and touching masonry, and then drill to that depth in brick?
Um I think so. Push the screws through the bracket, and measure how much is left protruding, then drill in an additional 5mm (to allow dust to accumulate) into the wall from the front of the plasterboard - which I think is what you're suggesting. If you measure the protrusion and the 5mm, and then tape a bit of electrical tape around the drill to the required measurement, then you'll know how far to drill in.
