A friend has had a new combi boiler installed by the local water board to replace a non-condensing boiler. They've run the drain pipe down the outside of the house and it ends in the flower bed ! There is no handy drain or rainwater downpipe in the vicinity ( there is but it would have involved extra work) They told her this is to comply with " new regulations" It looks a right mess but does this sound correct?

It should go to a special soakaway filled with limestone chippings to neutralise the discharge!
I have a couple of new ones to sell on!
I rather doubt there is any soakaway as required but easy to check. It should be over 500 mm from the house wall.

thats how it should be done, the length of pipe that goes across to the soakaway can be run under the ground, (providing its suitably protected from freezing) so it may look like its just a pipe going under the ground next to the building, dig away some of the ground and you should see it.
