Hi all,

I opted for a shower from the combi boiler in my main bathroom. The mixer valve I have used is a Crosswater valve (part number WS1500RC) which I am currently installing (well, trying to). It's a thermostatic valve to fill the bath or do the shower. The issue I have is that the cold water pressure is greater than the hot and so the temperature is apparenetly dominated by the cold supply. I've tested the valve when hooked up to the supplies and it doesn't warm up much when the cold is used. My apologies for my general ignorance but do I need to install a pressure equaliser?

I have a lot to learn but I like to do these things... At least I understand it all when I am done!

Thanks for your help,

As above but you could put an inline bollofix valve and restrict the cold flow

There are instances where high cold water presssure will effect boiler operation during showering. I would fit a pressure reducing valve on the incoming cold at the stopcock if shower control does not give precise temperature of spray.

You could run a cold tap while using the shower. If shower works better this way, fit a pressure reducing valve.

Have been to installations where the combi delivers reduced hot water to shower due to excessive cold water pressure. this leads to boiler cycling instead of modulating. Result is an invigorating shower experience.
