Can anyone help, I have just moved into a new house, it has a biasi riva compact 32s, it is not igniting when I am opening a HW tap, I can hear it trying to ignite, but:

1) It does not seem to be 'sparking' but it is powered up
2) The gas does not smell 'gassy'

I can't try the CH as all the rads are being replaced and the system is dry.

can any
one spread any light?

Sorry to state the obvious, but.......................... You have no water in the system, so the boiler will not work.

Not much you can do until the rads are fitted and system is filled.

I ll hold you to that, thanks for the advice, sorry for being a div!!

Thanks again

There seems to be several things you are not telling us!

You do say that its a new house. Then you say the rads are being replaced! Why replace the rads if the house is new?

I hope the boiler was installed before April 2005 because its not a condensing boiler!

If proper heating installers are fitting the rads then they should have been able to tell you about the boiler? Or dont they speak English?

It is actually possible for a professional to pressurise the boiler on its own without having any rads so that you would get hot water.
