Hi, got a glowworm compact e100, for the first time yesterday i put the central heating on, everything worked ok. However the next day the pressure gauge dropped to "0". I drained boiler and checked air pressure that was fine just over 1 bar re-pressured boiler to just over 1 bar i got the sound of lots of pressure for a minute or two re-adjusted pressure. Checked hot water everything ok. that evening put heating on for a couple of hours once again pressure dropped to "0".
What can i do to retain pressure!!

Hi firstly thanks for replying. I did think it might be a leak however nothing obvious, radiators etc all fine. During the day boiler works fine no drop of pressure only after central heating has been on and then it has to be on for a couple of hours!! Do you still think its a leak?

When you turn the heating on, observe the pressure gauge from all rads cold to all rads hot. How much does the gauge move?
If not alot(less than 0.5) then you are losing water, either a leak, or from the prv which should go to a pipe outside.
If the gauge is heading up towards 3bar then your expansion vessel isn't working. Either the air has been lost(you say you checked this, so possibly not) or the pipe from the expansion vessel is blocked.

With the systen drained and still open the pressure in the EXV should be set to about 0.9 Bar.

Then the pressure in the system should be set to about 1.5 Bar cold.

Hi once again thanks for replying. I think the answer may well be in your reply i drained the system then closed it and then i checked the pressure in the exv which i assumed was over 1 bar. When i checked with drain open it was "0" so i pumped in air to just below 1 bar then closed off the drain then set pressure to approx 1.3. Hopefully now this will retain pressure!!
I hold my hands up it may well be my own fault. But thanks to you it should be ok. I'll let you know.
Thanks again.
