Sealed s plan , unvented hot water. Needing a new combination valve.

Standard Unvented cylinder (looks like an Ariston) on an S plan.

leaking valve is a pressure regulator and a critical safety device. Only to be worked on by a competent person with G3 accreditation.

Pump is knocking on a bit in years as is the boiler but if it works then leave alone.

Thanks for replys.

All working fine except the small leak.

Can all this be changed to just a combination boiler?

5 bedrooms.
3 bathrooms.

Nope, you'd never be able to feed hot water to 3 bathrooms and a kitchen, all at the same time, from a combination boiler.

That's why you have an un-vented hot water cylinder.

Get the heating and hot water system serviced by a recommended qualified engineer ASAP.

What would be done in a service?

Should i take out BG Homecare 200?

Would it be sensible to take out homecare200 to cover the valve?

Is there a list of recommended, knowledgeable & honest engineers in different areas?

Many thanks

Worcester Highflows are pretty good and can give you 20 litres a min,
that'll be good for multi tap use, but you're still better with unvented HW

Yes, but only until the internal store has been depleted. That's after about 10 minutes at maximum flow rate.

Then they revert to the basic flow rate of about 11 li/min!

Good for filling a bath quickly but not for two good longer showers!

Any cover from BG will require an inspection visit prior to the cover, therefore the valve will be picked up as being faulty and wouldn't be covered. Need to get it fixed independently

The service will ensure your boiler is running safely and the un-vented cylinder's safety devices will be checked and tested and the valve that has issues should be replaced.

You can change to a combi but you wouldn't be feeding hot water to all 3 bathrooms plus the kitchen at the same time. Keep it as is.

It's rarely sensible to take out Homecare cover for anything. Leave Homecare well alone, you don't need it or anything like it. Ask your neighbours who they use, or see whether buywithconfidence.gov.uk comes up with any matches

Also, leave your system well alone. It's the best possible setup for your house. If you're keen to spend money on it, upgrade the controls to more efficient ones and leave it at that
