Hi Guys,

Just bought a house and in process of renovating. Reached the bathroom, and after painting etc, pulled the extractor fan cover off as it was old and discoloured.

Underneath (or above technically I guess!) I found the hole in the pic below.

I want to put a new extractor in there, and it looks like this is an electrical terminal in there.

Do they come with a plug to plug a new one in, or is this a very old design and would need re-wiring?

Any help much appreciated!

No - it looks very much as if you removed the entire fan assembly.

The "hole" is the case of the old fan.

It looks as though what is there is the connector which is in the right place for the old fan.

Did the old one plug in?

Have you looked to see if you can buy a replacement one?

Sadly there was nothing in there when i took the cover off. Litereally a piece of slatted plastic was all that was ion between the room and that hole. No fan in there so wouldn't know what model etc was in there. Also not sure how long ago it was removed. Checked the pipe out, goes through loft and to outlet on the side, but still well insulated. Think i just need to buy the replacement unit, but no idea where to start.

Cheers

I guess the old one siezed up and they just removed it and did not bother with a replacement.

Looks like the connections are there, but you'll need to check if you have what is needed to support the type of fan you want (eg timer, humidistat, etc)

And then go and buy your new fan. You'll certainly have to remove all of the housing that is already there.

thanks for all the help guys.

Will try and contact the manufacturer again, has Greenwood written on the cover.

I believe its activated with the light cord, so if I can replace easily I will. If not replace the cover for the time being and look to get someone in to replace completely. Not sure my skills are good enough to tackle this!

Looks like the old Greenwood range to me, don't know if they're still going

Looks very much like the old vent axia solo range the guts just clip in changed a few in the past.

Other way round for me when I look at it.

I can see the 3 cores from a 3-Core & earth cable, which I assume are permanent live, switched live & neutral.

What I can't see is the cpc...
