Thanks fellas.

I really can't believe I have managed 1 year as I smoked for maybe 25 yrs. Goes to show that you can do anything if you REALLY want to.

If anyone wants some tips PM me as I would love to help them give up too. :D

Yeah, really well done Bahco.

I've never smoked so much as a single drag in my entire life but as a young child I watched my Nanna live the last years of her life in a lot of pain and discomfort through several illnesses caused by her smoking for much of her life so i've got the greatest admiration for anyone who gives it up! I'm sure its not been easy but you should be extremely proud of yourself!

Well done Bah, I'm well impressed!

Now for the diet, as you've turned into a fat bassa, eh?!!! ;)

Very well done, bahco, I'm 362 days behind you.

Stopped on Sunday with the help of champix.

Any tips most appreciated

try a heart attack.. stopped my mom and dad cold in their tracks when dad had his..

couldn't smoke in hospital, or leave his bed for 2 weeks..
mom was there most of the day and was cleaning the house the rest of the time..

Thanks for all your support fellas. I feel quite tearful!

Holmslaw , good luck with you quitting, I found that a gradual change of habits over a couple of months worked for me. I hope you are successful with the champix though.

Keep us informed with how you get on and I'm sure all the regulars will support you. :D

Slap on the back, B!

If you can do a year, from now on, it will be dead easy.

I quit on 1 April 1994. Never think about it now.

Very well done, Bahco.

I stopped in 2005 but had been admitted to hospital with COPD breathing problems. They kept me in for 10 days (and didn't let me sneak off for a smoke) then came to discharge me and said they were booking an appointment with the Oncologist because I had LUNG CANCER!

Gulp!

That, friends is a serious reason to give up.

GOOD LAD!

I gave up in the pub on a Friday night. It was the only way to stop.

12 yrs + and counting.
