Hi, I wonder if anyone can help with the temporary reconnection of my old Vaillant Combi boiler, fitted approx 1986.

I am carrying out extensive alterations to a property and in doing so have destructed both the Randall programmer & Honeywell room stat along with the wiring to both.

The use of the boiler, which worked perfectly prior to the programmer & stat removal, is still required for some time until a complete new system is installed.

I would appreciate if anyone could advise on how to connect up the boiler (fit a link or links @ boiler) to replace the programmer & stat.

Boiler Details: GC NO ... 47-044-01 Vaillant VCW-sine 18 T3 WE

The first thing you need do is disconnect the clock and stat connect the 2 black wires from the clock together isolate the brown and blue tape them up then inside the electrical box inside the boiler link number 4 and 5 together with a piece of wire and the boiler will give heating by turning up the heat control and hot water as normal okey

Thanks guys, kevplumb, safeboilers & mickyg, sorry for the delay in replying to your res :D ponse,

After a being laid low with flu I got after it and I did as suggested connecting terminals 3 / 4. I turned the power on and got the pilot light on with the pump running, however, boiler wouldn't fire up.

As I had carried out major alterations to the system I was convinced that there must be an air lock so over three days or so I messed about trying to clear this air lock and low and behold it just fired up and is now working fine.

Thanks again for your advice, it was spot on.

Spot on apart from the unsafe advice to link 4 and 5 which could have done serious damage to the boiler.

I suppose in this age some people might intentionally give advice to spoil someone's boiler.

Presumably the same people who break off wing mirrors on parked cars?

Appreciate what you're saying Agile, I was lucky mickyg & kevplumb added comments before I wired in the link.

In these forums you put your trust in the advice posted by members like you guys.

Thanks again!
