Connection for warming drawer?

Would it be acceptable to connect the cable for a warming drawer to the same cooker outlet connection as a combination microwave?

The maximum load of the warming drawer is 0.43 KW. The manufacturer specifies a 13 amp fuse. I dont know if the warming drawer comes with a moulded 13 amp plug, but in any case it would be cut off and connected directly to the cooker outlet socket.


The M.W. has its own radial circuit on a 16 amp MCB on the RCD side of the C.U. with 2.5mm cable to a 20 amp switch and 45 amp cooker outlet.

The max load for the MW is 3.4 KW. The manufacturer specifies a 15 amp fuse.

In this case, no, it would not comply with regs as the total load would be over 16A and in any case you would need a 13A fuse for the warming drawer as per the manufacturers instructions (although a 3/5A might be better. You could do it as a spur off the ring though. You might be able to uprate the circuit to a 20A breaker if test results showed this was possible and you could verify the installation method of the cable but you would then need to fuse the microwave to 15A . . .

A spur off of the ring is possible. Would a 13 amp fused switch taken off the ring and down-rated to a 5 amp fuse be the best for warming drawer then?

The manufacture specified a 15 amp fuse for the MW but only a 16amp MCB is produced for the Ashley Rock CU. Would this +1 amp be a problem? The MW is cabled to a 45 amp cooker outlet as indicated above.

Yes fused switch spur at 3 or 5 amp from the ring is best.

16 amp mcb for a 15 amp fuse for mw is fine.
