Consumer unit keeps tripping ourlt

In my case, it was the macerator.

Funnily enough, the whole house tripped a couple of days ago when Mrs Mottie put a slice of bread in the toaster. It’s only about 6 months old. I turned it upside down, gave it a shake in case anything was stuck inside, reset the breaker and everything was okay. I switched it on and off about 20 times and it’s not caused any problems so hoping it was just a one-off.
Probably a sultana from your hot cross bun!

All it needs is a crumb of bread, carbonised, shorting the bar element to the metal case.
