Hi,
I’m on a steep learning curve here as gradually updating house ,but things just got a little more confusing

I have an utility area ( toilet, laundry room , storage cupboard ) attached to the semi det house . The utility area is built on a concrete slab. The house date back to 1960 and is ex council house. Utility area is back to back with next doors . I want to convert it to a kitchen . I have been left to believe this won’t be a problem as it classed a not a habitual space. I thought the plan was going to be binned as it needed proper foundations.

Do I need proper foundations as it’s not habitable space ? Last thing I need is problems if I decide to sell . There is no dining area in kitchen

thank you for your time .

When thinking of "do I need proper foundations?", you should not be thinking in terms of "will the thing stay up without proper foundations?".

Your conversion may or may not require building regulations, and if so, as part of that the floor, walls and roof must be adequate. Whether the existing slab is currently adequate to hold everything up and you can insulate the floor without removing it, who knows? You'll need t give much more detail on what you are actually doing and what's there now.
