Cooker Control Unit

Hello All
What is the minimum distance that a cooker control unit can be from the hob in a kitchen. I have a cooker control unit that is about 20mm along the wall past the hob. If this is not acceptable then I will need to move this along a touch. I know it is not good practice to run cable sideways but if I have to move it I am only looking for possibly 150 to 200 mm is there a way I can join the cable may be using a cooker connection unit and a fascia or can I join the cable somehow and plaster over it.

Any clues had a search and can't seem to find any previous topics. Any ideas on joining the 6mm cable if not. Cheers
