hi...i am in the process of updating all my electrics at home....i am unsure about the cooker socket...i have been told that it needs to have have its own circuit (40 amp)....using 6mm cable with a 45amp cooker switch....i have also been told that i can run a spur off the exiting ring circuit (32 amp) using 6mm cable and a cooker switch...is this true????
thanks for any replies

The cooker supply needs to be on its own dedicated supply.

Spurring a cooker supply off a ring is absoloutly, utterly, totally not under any circumstances allowed.

Are you aware of Part P?

40A might be too much for 6mm² - depends how it's installed.

Absolutely not.

thanks for any replies
