I'm new to this site so this question may be answered elsewhere.

My daughter has asked me to connect up her new electric cooker in her new house.

The cooker is rated 7.2kW and the feed to the cooker switch and outlet is protected by a 30 amp fuse in the consumer unit.

The last time I connected a cooker, many years ago, I used a 6mm double insulated multi-strand 3 core cable. The only 6mm cable which I can now get appears to be 6mm single strand twin and earth. Is this suitable and does the single strand cable not make it more prone to core damage than the old multi-strand.

When you says single strand, DD, I guess you are meaning the earth. The L & N have always been ms in 6.00mm cable.

No, it is fine, to answer your question. Just make sure you sleeve the earth with green/yellow before terminating.
