Correct setting for auto bypass valve

Been trying to figure the correct setting for the auto bypass valve fitted my heating system.

The pump is a Grundfos Alpha2 15/60 and the boiler is a Worcester 15ri.

have totally closed/fully screwed down the ABV and the pipes are still heating up (although unsure which one shouldn't be)

The one going down in the direction of the flow (arrow) should not get hot if the valve is totally closed off. Are you screwing it right in, like turning off a tap?

Yep totally closed.
