Hi everyone,

I am about to screw some gripper onto my 12 tread staircase and I'm trying to get the right gap.

On the internet, some people say to put the grippers 10mm out from the join between the back of the tread and the bottom of the riser. That results in a very small gap of about 4mm or so, which seems a bit tight to me. Someone else recommended a gap of "a thumb" which sounds a bit more reasonable.

I've done one tread so far -- see attached piccies. I thought I'd seek advice before I did the rest. I'll be getting a professional to fit the carpet, but I wanted to avoid unnecessary hammering on the treads as they're old and I spent ages getting rid of squeaks.

Have I left too much gap. Or about right. Any advice welcome. Thanks.
