Plan checking fee is paid to err check the plans, and then the site inspection fee is invoiced when work starts
Planning permission does not involve site inspections

Go to any councils website and look at the fee structure and payment terms
Normally You pay the plan checking fee which is the same amount whatever the size of the job.
Then the inspection fee which is a sliding scale depending on m2 of the new work. One payment covers all inspections
Certain works attract fees based on total value of the work
Will the guy who makes the site visits be able to advise on rsj etc in cases where walls need to be removed? or is this a job for a structual engineer in which case is it extra charge?
