I have council land at the side of my house.... I've maintained it since I moved in.
Is it a myth that if I have maintained it for a period of time then I can claim it?

I think you have to register an interest for 12 years before you can claim it.
You need also to put a fence around the land.

There used to be millions of unregistered properties and plots of land in the UK.

I think it is now compulsory to register land.

you could ask to buy it.

or you could just fence it off and see if anybody notices in the next 100 years.

or just move your fence over a bit after dark every year and see if the neighbours notice
(oh Cyril Im sure Bodds garden is getting bigger....I just dont know why)
