Started to remove some coving trim under the main coving. Seems to have this yellow fibre mixed in with what I think is plaster. Anyone know what this is? Is it safe to remove? Worried it could be something linked with asbestos. House was built in the early 70s. Did think it could be horse hair but seems too yellow!

The yellow is some natural material - not asbestos, but that doesn't guarantee there is no asbestos in the plaster coving. Usual advice is wear a mask, take a sample and deliver it to a specialist lab for testing and a report.

should be safe to remove - the "horse hair" is reinforcing fibre.
use a knife to free the coving edges, and then prise it off in lengths - dont smash it off.
