so 'nogoodatfaultfinding' came & adjusted the valves until the balance was a bit better between the two. This now means the shower is warm again (hurray). He also noticed that the pressure in the boiler was below 0. It could be that the cowboy drained the system (despite there being a sticker on the cover saying not to!) and didn't reset the pressure. This may have been the reason that the boiler was squeeking because it has stopped now. It could have wrecked our boiler too. And now we know how to reset the pressure ourselves we can keep an eye on it. Luckily the cowboy has now retired to Spain.
