Cracked bricks and mortar - my fault!

Hi
I installed an awning on the back of our house today. Fixings were attached with plastic plugs and screw bolts.
It turns out the holes were too small, although I used the specified drill bit.
I cracked the bricks and mortar - see photos
I think I will remove the whole bloody thing, hope the cracks close up, and then re-fix using resin and steel anchors.
Any better ideas / other suggestions?
Bah!
Thanks
Ben

If that's a parapet, then it has nothing to do with the hole size and you may struggle trying to get it to hold an awning.

Always worries me seeing these monster cantilever awnings just clagged on with no real thought about where the dead loads and wind loads are going :). Think there's a pic on here somewhere of a gable end wall that fell off with an awning attached to it .......

You will need some steel backplate to spread the load.

Maybe some vertical steel posts, SHS?

If you google "spreader plates" various examples come up like these:

Blup

Some bricks are now cracked and the bond has been broken between bricks and mortar ,so cracked bricks would have to be replaced and some bricks rebedded in mortar for the wall to be repaired properly ,but I suppose that is obvious.
