I have sanded a pine floor in a small room. To finish the job I put moose moulding round the skirting (there was none there previously). After nailing the moulding into place I found it (or the floorboards) creaked loudly when I walked on the floor so have had to take said moulding up again.

Any suggestions for curing the problem? I did think of running either a draught excluder under the moulding or a silicone bead but would appreciate an expert opinion.

You could try fixing it only to the skirthing board so that the floor moves independantly.

If you skirting boards are moving when you walk on the floor you have bigger problems than a creak.
