Create a NEW window opening

I am think of having a new widow opening made (to let more light into a dark room).
The window would be about 600 x 1200.
This would be on what is a windowless wall at the back of the house & does not overlook any neighbours or roads.
Could I just go ahead and have this done WITHOUT planning consent.

Not unless you are in a conservation area.
You will need building control to approve it though. A good builder can sort that out if you're not DIYing it.
