Create ornamental pillar effect

Hi all

I'm looking to restore the vertical pillars around my front door. Pictures are below. It's an 1870s London victorian house in a conservation area, so we have to get it back to how the original looked. It probably would have been concrete and I think we can re-do it ourselves, I just need some advice!

Would I need to create a mold of a neighbours house, or just build a wooden casting and fill it with concrete? If the latter, how would I go about that - in stages or one go?
