CU Change Quotes or lack of...

I've been trying to get some quotes to change my old wylex board to a split load CU.

A couple of companies have come out had a look and said from the looks of it all the bonding is up to date etc and it should be a fairly easy job.

They all said they would get back to me with a price and a week later no sign of a quote... I'm guessing they are all busy and don't want the job, but if so why bother comming out to look at the job in the first place :S

Is it worth trying some registered one man bands rather than the slightly bigger companies that I have tried so far?

As a registered "One Man Band", I'd have to say yes. The self employed guys, having gone self employed after working for big firms (mostly) are just as capable and efficient as anyone a big firm is likely to send round - maybe even more so. Provided they are a member of one of the Competent Person Scheme's (ECA, Napit, NIC to name 3) you know you will get a good workmanlike job done - they are more likely to turn up to quote, too.
