tut tut, you'll have to spend the next few decades going back on yourself.

Just kidding its even advised to do it on the compex course.

Are you stating 7 strand wires are class 2?
Yup, conductor classes (not to be confused with appliance classes)

1. Solid
2. Coarse strands (conduit singles and similar)
5. Fine strands (flex, "trirated" and similar)
6. Extra fine strands (some test leads and welding cables).

(noone seems to know what happened to 3 and 4, I'm guessing the IEC standards inherited the numbers from some prior standard that had more classes)

There‘s also the standard in which the cable designations are defined in, like H05VV-F. That one differentiates between fine stranded conductors (-F) and fine stranded conductors for fixed installations (-K). To the untrained eye H05V-F (individual conductors from ordinary flex) and H05V-K look exactly identical.
