Curtain pole problems

Hi hope you can help me.

I'm trying to put up a curtain pole, and the wll that i'm trying to fix it to seems too tough for me to drill. Therefore I can't put the rawl plugs far enough into the wall and the screws won't hold the brackets. How can I fix the brackets to the wall?

Is the answer as simple as getting a more powerful drill?

also make sure you are not drilling into any steel above the window

you should use a SDS drill
