Cutting down flat head screws ie those on sockets

I've told you how I get around this problem - who the hell are you to tell me what I should do?

But out.

Sorry to be picky, but that should be Butt out.............

I agree with BAS, a nut put on before hand will remove burrs that a file will sometimes turn into the thread........ :D

Not if you angle the file correctly. I've done it for years on varying sizes of set screws, screwed rod, bolts etc - obviously not all cut with pliers though :)

firstly, how are you supposed to angle your cutters the same as the threads? it's oposite angles on oposite sides so at least one jaw will then be angled against the thread..

secondly, pliers and cutters don't have a flat side.. they are v cut.. angled on both edges.. granted one side more so than the other, but still not flat.. and they still produce a ridge on the thread..

I said you could do B.

You said you don't need to do B because you do A.

I said that what I meant was that if you do B you don't need to do A.

You said that you know that after you've done A you wouldn't need to do B.

I tried (again) to get you to understand that B is an alternative to A.

You said you get round the problem by doing A.

Firstly, where have I told you what you should do?

Secondly, why can't you get it into your head that all along I've been proposing B as an alternative to A, not an addition?

Just WTF is wrong with you?

While the nut idea works I think you will find it is quicker to dress with an apropriate file.

I think what you are missing is people dont have 5 mins to be messing around with one screw while on a job........
