hello,

could you tell me the method for cutting a small square in the middle of a granite tile.

for something small like the size of a single socket, in the middle of a 305x305. I understand that some use an angle grinder with a diamond disk, but a 115mm will be to big I think, and not cut that small...holding it up to the tile I can see this.

I have seen some of the smaller stone cutting disks made by Marcrist, 80mm and 85mm but they have a 15mm bore. is there a smaller grinder that people use? to take these..

On another point can you explain how some of you get a perfect strait cut with an angle grinder, as I have read that some don't use a wet saw and just prefer to use a grinder, do u clamp it or what.

Cheers guys

You can take your choice between wet or dry, the principle is the same. You cut from the back of the tile, but you work to markings on the front of the tile. You only let the diamond wheel penetrate until you have reached the width of cut that you want on the surface. Most pro guys will use a 115mm grinder dry unless wet is their choice.

ok thanks...... just thought the small 80-100mm ones would be good, i know people like the Marcrist, blades. they are twice as thin as the cr*p ones.

cutting a dead strait line with and angle grider? do you use a guide, template or something?

Thanks
