I need to cut the length of a worktop already in place. In effect I need to trim about 4 inches off to slot in a wider cooker. I will have to cut from above. The cooker will butt up to a cabinet as this is an existing overhang. Any suggestions how I might do this.
Clamp or screw a batten to the bit you're cutting off to keep the jigsaw nice and straight, and masking tape on the cut line will help to minimise chipping.
Or if you have a makita jigsaw it will cut flush with standard blade if not you can use any mechanical saw and finish off against the wall with a sharp handsaw or flush saw though if it's tiled over at the wall there will be a few mm you will have to break out and make good.
