Daily Mail, plumbing the depths

The press and tv news has always been censored. Self censored by the editors based on what they think is socially acceptable and what they think they can get away with. That's why they have editors.
The twin towers being shown on live tv was understandable because it was a huge event that was happening before peoples eyes without anybody (including tv editors) realising just how serious it was. By the time they did it was world news on every station. Even then they had the judgement not to show close up film of the poor people who had to jump as they were falling. I know photos are available on the internet. Nowadays they'd be poking around in the ruins, elbowing the rescuers out of the way to see if they could get some good shots of the blood stains where the poor b*ggers landed.
As for Mary Whitehouse, I'm no prude and in those days I thought she was an iirrelevant nuisance. The woman may have gone a bit too far but she was dead right in what she saw happening, that little box in the corner of the room is largely responsible for the spread of moronic behaviour throughout the world. Now it's been superceded by the internet.

Times they are a changing....

In Mary Whitehouses times, social attitudes were very different. I just watched a documentary about olde world regional TV, and members of the public were asked 'What's Snogging'? A lot of the elderly audience didn't know...so Mary was correct to some extent, and also, raised viewing figures, due to critising certain programes.

But to be shocked, and not post a link to a heavily pixillated picture, that conveys nothing, in the land of the internet, and rolling news, suggest a rather sheltered upbringing?

If you walk down any highstreet thesedays, or at night, then I suggest you will see more of a woman, than a backstreet fondle. Cleavage, naval, bum cleavage, bum cheeks...to be shocked by a pixellated still....is really rather bizarre?

How the hell can you associate a few slappers out on the town with the content and issues involved in the photo in question??

Either you don't read anything, and understand it, or you are insane?

A static photograph where the OP says he would not post a link to it, as offensive, which shows nothing, or reality where going out on the town reveals lady flesh?

You really need to get out more. The photograph in question, is blurred, shows nothing, and proves nothing.

So where are your morals at? You prefer to see blood and gore? You prefer to watch hardcore porn? Where are your morals at? A picture that makes no sense in a national paper is published, is shocking, but it's OK for kids to walk round showing their arses, tits, and navels? When that's all around always... Get a life fella.

Matt

Seeing a young person about to be killed does not sit well with me. I wish I had not seen that picture.

Was the person in the water killed?

To be honest I don't think anyone knows that for certain. But it seems certain to me that he must have been. For one thing, if he was still alive I think he would have been on the news by now.

On their website there's a large photo of the gunman standing over a young lad pleading for his life.
The young lad is circled (just in case you miss him).

Never mind news international....

They didn't hack the the lad's phone as well, did they??
